4 Eco-friendly practices we embrace as a family with 3 young kids in Singapore

Sustainability in our home doesn’t look like perfection. It looks like small, repeatable choices that fit real life with children - choices we can actually stick with.

Here are a few simple practices we’ve embraced over time.

1. Wet bags instead of plastic bags

Beach days, swim classes, rainy-day surprises - we’ve stopped reaching for disposable plastic bags and now keep reusable wet bags on hand instead. They hold wet clothes, swimwear, muddy shoes, and the occasional unexpected mess.

They live permanently in our bags and car: practical, washable, and used again and again.

2. Reusable cotton wipes at mealtimes

Mealtimes with children are messy - and that’s okay. We keep reusable cloth wipes nearby for hands, faces, and spills. After use, they go straight into the wash and come back ready for the next meal.

And yes, we still use tissues when needed. It’s about balance, not extremes.

3. Reusables for school and daily life

Reusable water bottles. On-the-go snack cups. Opting out of disposable cutlery for takeaway meals whenever we can.

We choose reusables that work for real life, because sustainability that adds stress doesn’t last. Convenience still has a place - it’s just no longer the default.

4. Buying less & choosing better

Instead of more, we’re choosing intentionally.

Items that are well-made, practical for family life, and designed to last beyond one child or one season. Fewer things, but better ones.

We’re not purists.

We don’t get it right every time.

But we believe that small habits, taught consistently, shape how our children care for the world. For our family, this is stewardship, not striving.

These values guide both our home and the pieces we curate for our store: practical, eco-conscious, and made for everyday use.

If you’re curious, try starting with just one small swap and see how it fits into your life. 🌱
